Ankle Fractures & Treatment
Not all ankle fractures are the same, and treatments are vastly different depending on how the ankle breaks and which bones and ligaments are impacted.
The most common type of ankle fracture results from a twisting motion coupled with a fall. These simple fractures may come in multiple patterns and include one or all the bones and ligaments around the ankle. At Gulf Orthopaedics, our initial evaluation will involve imaging of the ankle to determine if the bones are fractured and to measure the stability of the joint. Ankle breaks not requiring surgery may be immobilized in a cast or boot. If your ankle condition isn’t treatable with non-surgical care, you may require surgery to repair bones, tendons, ligaments, or other damage inside the ankle. Our specialists offer all types of ankle surgery, with a commitment to minimally invasive options when possible.
